Preface:
A rank structure is something that is important within all communities, as it instills a sense of leadership and responsibility to members who have shown above average capabilities in work ethic, and serves as an incentive to new members, reminding them that AG is not just a group of people gaming, but an organized well established community. By centralizing the rank structure around gaming and simplicity, a small yet effective rank structure should be made.
A lot of newer members get overwhelmed when joining a community that has hundreds of members. While having a short and game centric rank structure, there should be some level of grouping or member placement to instill a sense of a close-nit community.
Promotions are an essential part of a gaming community as it gives members incentive to excel within the community, and reward those who have showcased outstanding performance within the community.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Battalions:
Battalions should be main faction for grouping or team organization. Battalions give a ‘home’ to the newer members in the community and an additional loyalty they can have to a specific part of the community. This also gives a sense of competition between Battalions allowing for leaders to push to make their Battalion better than the others, thus pushing the community stronger all together. A Battalion can consist of a minimum of fifteen (15) members, and a maximum of eighty (80) members. There can be twenty (20) Recruits, seventy-five (75) Soldiers, two (2) Lieutenants, four (4) Captains, with One (1) Colonel).
Teams:
Teams are an optional faction within AG. This will be for members who want to get together with players who have similar interests. Rank does not apply within teams, and team leaders can decide each activity. (Example: A competitive Call of Duty team for players with a specific K/D.)
RANK STRUCTURE
Recruit:
The rank of recruit would serve as the newest member within the community. This rank will act as a ‘trial’ period to new members. If a recruit decides that they are interested in staying with the community after 5 days, and had not caused any disruptions, the recruit would be promoted to the rank of Soldier.
Soldier:
The rank of soldier is the basic, standard rank for community members. Majority of members within the community will be placed into the rank of soldier. This rank puts no responsibility on members within this rank other than participating in game nights, functions, and meetings. Soldiers who show outstanding attendance, participation, and maturity are eligible for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant.
Lieutenant:
The responsibilities of Lieutenants are to assist Captains with day-to-day planning and learn the ins and outs of being a Captain. Lieutenants can and will be promoted if they receive endorsement from the Captains and are approved by the Colonel.Captain:
Captains are the first level of administration within the community. Captains will be expected to recruit new members into the community, resolve small disputes amongst battalion members, host weekly game nights, help the Colonel with day to day management, and make recommendations to the Colonel on who should be promoted within the Battalion.
Colonel:
A Colonel is the overseer of the entire Battalion. The Colonel is expected to ensure that everything within the Battalion is running smoothly. The Colonel is also expected to host bi-monthly battalion meetings, promote and demote members to appropriate ranks, attend administration meetings, and update battalion rosters once a month.
Global Moderators:
GMs oversee the entire groups of battalions as a whole. They retain the right to open and close battalions, promote and demote Colonels, and make other executive decisions over the battalions. There must always be an odd number of GMs within this position as each decision comes down to a non-weighted vote. This will avoid any unnecessary arguments, and ensure a fair democratic system when making executive decisions. A Global Moderator meeting must be held every month.
Administrators:
The Administrator rank is the highest rank within the community. Admins are allowed to perform any action anywhere within the community, including but not limited to: promotions/demotions, opening and closing battalions, hosting meetings in any tier, and any other decisions regarding other ranks or rules. Administrators are also in complete control over all properties of AG including but not limited to: websites, podcasts, Youtube channels, branding rights, and sponsorships. Administrators are also in charge of all public relations including merges, sponsorships, and all other administrative decisions. There must always be an odd number of Administrators, as all decisions must be made as a group. If there is a disagreement a decision must be made through vote.
